In case you’ve seen a ton of men sporting a stache lately, let us recap. The equation is simple: Movember= Moustache + November. The fabulous month of November just got a lot better! Even more so, a lot more meaningful.
As Wikipedia.com exquisitely explains: “Movember is an annual, month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer and other male cancers; and associated charities.” Side benefit: an excuse for guys to get their Tom Sellek on.
This is an inspiring development shedding light on the fact that we have to be consistently aware and mindful of our bodies. Sometimes we can get so caught up in our daily routines that a mustache serves an excellent reminder.
Especially with winter soon approaching- I can already hear the jingle bells ringing- it’s important to get creative and find unique and effective physical activities, and avoid growing a Santa belly with winter weight to stay active and keep our bodies in solid shape.
A couple of examples of super simple changes that make a huge difference are using lower-fat turkey meat instead of beef in your chili con carne, or eating a refreshing fruit salad instead of candy.
For those of us that aren’t gym people– look up a studio near you offering Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, and other such classes that are a great alternative for those of us that hate the sometimes static, mechanical gym environment. Fundamentals of principals of Pilates, for example, will give you a whole new perspective to working out with a unique emphasis- similar to that of Yoga- on precise exercise execution and optimal body movement rather than more weight-oriented, repetition-oriented gym exercises.
